It seems that I have always been a naturalist without knowing it. As a youth I was always outdoors. Whether camping with the family, running through the nearby woods exploring the flora and fauna or sneaking off to the creeks and swimming holes of the Texas Hill Country that was home. I later studied plants and soils at Southwest Texas State. My love of nature continues with with the work that my lovely wife does and all that we do together. I hope that we can share our passion with you. This is going to be a great adventure!

I've been lucky to have mentors throughout our life that saw the benefit of taking me outside. They feed my naturalist fires that's for sure. However when it comes to keeping a nature journal, well that was hit or miss. I always had an excuse. I know exactly when the idea of keeping a journal became a craving. I was field sketching near a lighthouse in Canada while in graduate school 2012. I knew the idea of nature journaling was important, but it ebbed and flowed until then. Now I can't go a day without spending time outside and in my journal. I hope my passion reminds you to start.....and stop....and start again. It's about the adventure. Let's take one together!
